HOW EISENHOWER DESTROYED THE REPUBLICAN PARTY
Eisenhower’s presidency had coincided with a long period of peace and prosperity. Indeed, the title of the popular 1970’s TV show, Happy Days, refers to its setting in the 1950’s. The Eisenhower years mark the peak years of “the baby boom” and upward mobility of all classes and ethnic / racial groups. Apart from a minor and short-lived recession in 1958, the 50’s truly were “the good old days.”
One would therefore think that the Republican Party (aka GOP for Grand Old Party), with its popular and superficially likable “war hero” presiding over these “happy days,” would have greatly expanded, or at least maintained the Congressional majorities which Ike inherited upon winning the 1952 election in a massive landslide. This was not the case. To the contrary, in spite of two massive Eisenhower landslides, the 1950’s turned out to be a history-altering bloodbath for House and Senate Republicans, and it was not by accident.
There were two elements driving this extremely odd paradox of such a popular president not having any election “coat tails” for his fellow Republicans to grab onto. First, the Globalist media, while constantly exalting Eisenhower on one hand, trashed what was then a mostly conservative, anti-communist, constitutionalist Republican Congress with the other. But the real death blow of the one-two punch knockout of the GOP Congress came from Eisenhower himself.
During the 1954, 1956, 1958 and 1960 election seasons, Eisenhower -- with the exception of a few liberal “modern Republicans” -- refused to lift a finger in defense of his beleaguered colleagues. He was the one man -- the only man -- in America who could have protected the patriotic anti-communist Republicans in Congress from the daily whipping they were taking from the Globalist press, but he refused. Robert Welch describes Ike’s silent treachery of 1954, which only grew worse in subsequent Congressional elections, and peaked during the 1958 mid-term elections in which the GOP lost an additional 49 seats in the House, and 14 in the Senate. WHAT is he doing? AG Sessions comes out in DEFENSE of Rod Rosenstein after GOP lawmakers file articles of impeachment
Disgraceful: Longtime readers of The National Sentinel know that we have called out Attorney General Jeff Sessions time and time again for failing to rein in the bogus Robert Mueller witch hunt and ensure that Congress received documents it requests in its oversight role as lawmakers continue to probe Spygate and other Obama-era scandals.
After all, we thought, Sessions — despite being AG and a former federal prosecutor — would remember that he was a long-serving member of Congress prior to accepting POTUS Trump’s invitation to head up the Justice Department.
But instead of deferring to Congress’ constitutional role of providing oversight of all the Executive Branch agencies it funds, Sessions has become the lead obstacle to Congress’ pursuit of information pertaining to the biggest political scandal in the history of our country.
He knows his president boss is innocent of the ridiculous allegation that he “colluded” with Russia or that he “obstructed justice” when he fired James Comey for being the most politicized FBI director since J. Edgar Hoover.
And yet he continues to allow his deputy, Rod Rosenstein, to be the gatekeeper of information sought by Congress as it attempts to provide the American people with answers about why Obama put the Trump campaign under surveillance without any actionable intelligence to justify it.

GOP Congressman Warns Nation Headed to Civil War
Rep. Steve King posted a warning on Twitter Sunday evening that the U.S. is heading toward a second civil war, comparing the present day actions of the anti-Trump resistance to the run-up to the Civil War.
King, an eight-term Congressman from Iowa, keyed off a PJ Media article about leftist protesters shutting down a Portland, Oregon ICE office and taking down the U.S. flag, replacing with an “Refugees Welcome” flag.
“America is heading in the direction of another Harpers Ferry. After that comes Ft. Sumter.”
Harper’s Ferry is a reference to the 1859 raid led by abolitionist John Brown on a federal armory at Harper’s Ferry, Virginia (now West Virginia), in a failed effort to instigate a slave rebellion.

But there’s more. We now have a text between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, FBI agents, directly talking about the pressure to finish the Hillary Clinton investigation–a text which occurred right after Donald J. Trump became the presumptive GOP nominee
We have a text from May 4, 2016 where Peter Strzok says: “Now the pressure really starts to finish MYE…” (or ‘Mid-Year Exam,’ the FBI’s code name for the Clinton investigation.) May 4, 2016 is important–because it’s when Ted Cruz dropped out. That day, Trump was the nominee.

Trump reveals ‘Fake News Awards,’ website crashes
A blog titled “The Highly-Anticipated 2017 Fake News Awards” on the official Republican Party website shows the top winner of Trump’s fake news accolades to be New York Times columinist and economist Paul Krugman, who claimed on Election Day 2016 that the “economy would never recover” from Trump’s “historic, landslide victory,” according to a copy of the GOP blog archived by the nonprofit Internet Archive.
Second place went to ABC News' Brian Ross, whose reporting cited an anonymous source claiming that an associate of Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn was going to testify that Trump “directed him to make contact with the Russians” while being a presidential candidate. Ross, however, corrected his story to say that Trump was president-elect at the time, only after crashing the stock market.
CNN scooped third place. Without mentioning CNN congressional correspondent Manu Raju by name, the award refers to a false report that Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., received advanced exclusive access to documents published by Wikileaks via email. Raju corrected it once he discovered that his anonymous source got the date of the email wrong, but not before several other news networks made the exact same error, also citing anonymous sources.
The so-called awards went on to list seven other inaccurate stories about Trump that were later corrected, from Trump removing a Martin Luther King, Jr. bust from the Oval Office, to Polish First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda not shaking his hand, to false news of the Trump administration hiding a climate change report.

Make Trump Trump—Refocus On National Question!
Donald Trump is nearing 100 days in office and with few exceptions, the results have not been as we hoped. The once-triumphant unified Republican government may not make it past the midterm elections.
The warning signs are obvious.
In a heavily GOP district in deep red Kansas, Republican Ron Estates barely survived a strong challenge from Democrat James Thompson on Tuesday, despite direct intervention from President Trump [Republican Ron Estes prevails in tough Kansas congressional race, by Bryan Lowry, The Kansas City Star, April 11, 2017].

“This will be the last election that the Republicans have a chance of winning,” Trump tells us from backstage at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., on Friday. “You’re going to have people flowing across the border, you’re going to have illegal immigrants coming in and they’re going to be legalized and they’re going to be able to vote and once that all happens you can forget it.”

At some level, everyone—even Republican consultants who pretend otherwise when they are on television—already know this.
Throughout the 2016 election, we have been presented with lovingly detailed demographic breakdowns of voters along with descriptions of who they are going to vote for backed by mounds of data. As we saw during the Republican primaries, even the ethnic differences between different groups of European-Americans was a critical factor in determining who won certain states.
The differences in political culture between ethnic groups are deeply rooted and last for centuries. The differences between races are even more substantial. And politicos have to be aware of them. Indeed, the entire job of a political consultant could be defined as piecing together a winning coalition from disparate groups.

Roger Stone: Ted Cruz 'is a dumb son of a bitch'
Longtime Donald Trump ally Roger Stone laid into Ted Cruz minutes after his refusal to endorse the GOP nominee on Wednesday, calling him a "dumb son of a bitch" and a "despicable human being."
Stone, who spoke to The Hill as he left the Quicken Loans Arena, warned that the Texas senator's public unwillingness to back Trump would come back to haunt him.
"By Ted Cruz not supporting the nominee, he's exempted himself from real conservatives," he said. "No voter gives a crap about what Ted Cruz does. The only person this hurts is Ted Cruz."
He continued to excoriate Cruz, whom delegates showered with boos as they realized he wasn't going to endorse Trump during his speech to the convention.
"Ted Cruz thinks he's Ronald Reagan. T he problem is he's not anything near Reagan in terms of being an inspiring, likable figure," Stone said. "He's a dumb son of a bitch who thinks he's smarter than everybody else."

Trump or Ryan: Who Speaks for GOP?
“No modern precedent exists for the revival of a party so badly defeated, so intensely discredited, and so essentially split as the Republican Party is today.”Taken from “The Party That Lost Its Head” (1966) by Bruce Chapman and George Gilder, this excerpt, about Barry Goldwater’s defeat in 1964, led Thursday’s column by E.J. Dionne of The Washington Post.
Dionne is warning what could happen if the GOP perpetrates the political atrocity of nominating Donald Trump.
For weeks now, the Post‘s editorial page has sermonized about the “moral” obligation of all righteous Republicans to repudiate Trump.
The Post‘s solicitude for the well-being of the Republican Party is the stuff of legend. Yet it is a bit jarring to see these champions of abortion on demand, same-sex marriage, and visitation rights for cross-dressers in the girls’ room, standing in a pulpit lecturing on morality.
Yet, there was something off about that Chapman-Gilder quote.

Tom Cotton (Ark.), Cory Gardner (Colo.), Tim Scott (S.C.), Rob Portman (Ohio) and Ben Sasse (Neb.), who recently made news bysaying he “cannot support Donald Trump.”
Along with Ryan, the House was represented by Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Fred Upton (Mich.), Rep.
