At UN “Climate” Summit, Pelosi and Democrats Ignore Reality

During a congressional trip to the United Nations 25th Conference of the Parties (COP25) on “climate change,” Democrats led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.; shown) ignored reality and claimed the United States was still committed to the “climate” fight and the UN “Paris Agreement.” “We came here to say we’re still in,” Pelosi said at the UN summit in Madrid. However, in the real world, President Donald Trump, who ridiculed the man-made warming alarmism as a “hoax” to benefit Communist China, is still the president. And under his administration, the U.S. government is still in the process of leaving the controversial and illegitimate UN deal.

Beyond ignoring the fact that a skeptic of the hypothesis is still sitting in the White House, Pelosi also misled UN COP 25 attendees about Congress, too. “Our delegation is here to send a message that Congress’s commitment to take action on the climate crisis is iron-clad,” Pelosi claimed. In reality, just a tiny handful of fringe Republicans — dubbed Republicans in Name Only by political analysts — publicly support “action” on “climate.” In fact, it was major news a few weeks ago when one freshman Republican senator joined with a Democrat to create a “Climate Solutions Caucus.” Despite the effort to mislead the world, though, delegates at the UN summit are well aware of the lack of American support.

During a 30-minute press conference in Madrid, Democrats chose not to focus on Trump or the fact that Americans elected a president who boldly rejected and ridiculed the hypothesis underpinning their agenda. Instead, the coalition of radical U.S. lawmakers spent much of their time emphasizing the fact that some of America's most leftist city and state governments were handicapping their own economies and raising the cost of living for the people they represent under the guise of fighting “climate change.” Overall, they sounded detached from reality, observers said. At the end of the press conference, some of the Democrats even shouted: “We’re still in!”

Critics ridiculed the House Speaker and her fellow Democrats in the delegation for sounding so out of touch with the real world. “Pelosi and the rest need a lesson in the U.S. Constitution and how foreign policy is lawfully made in this country,” said Craig Rucker, president of the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT), a free-market environmentalist group. After that, the CFACT chief volunteered to teach the Democrats a basic civics lesson.

Second Amendment Sanctuary” Idea Gaining Ground as Dems Push for More Gun Control

RICHMOND — In the wake of the Democrat takeover of Virginia, the newly empowered Left is unapologetic about plans to disarm residents of the Old Dominion. Governor Ralph Northam — having previously failed to get any traction for his citizen-disarmament policies — now appears to see his way clear to implement them. But partisan victories do not necessarily equal a carte blanche mandate. Virginians across the state are prepared to resist his gun grab, and they have the law — and some in law enforcement — on their side.

As a result of the Maoist-assisted shift to the Left in Virginia, Democrats in the birthplace of a nation appear to believe they can run roughshod over the God-given, constitutionally protected rights of Virginians. While Northam may not have expressed it quite the way former Texas Congressman Beto O'Rourke did in his bid for the DNC presidential nomination, he nonetheless promised that he will press forward with “common sense” gun-control laws. “Common sense” is a liberal buzz-word for repressive restrictions on the Second Amendment’s guarantee of “the right of the people to keep and bear arms.”

Northam and other Democrats had tried on previous occasions to enact restrictive gun laws, but were held at bay by the Republican-controlled General Assembly. With the recent election giving Democrats control of both houses, Northam has promised to press his agenda through. That agenda includes universal background checks; child access prevention; a one-gun-per-month purchase limit; bans on all so-called assault weapons, including bump stocks and high-capacity magazines; legal responsibilities for lost or stolen guns; allowing municipalities to ban guns from municipal buildings; and so-called red flag laws.

“Red flag laws” are laws that prevent a person who has not committed a crime from buying a gun. All that is necessary is that the person is accused of being “dangerous.” As the Virginia Citizens Defense League, a gun-rights group active in Virginia since 1994, explains:

The person accused of being “dangerous” has not committed a crime and has no notice there is a problem until the police show up, pre-dawn, with guns drawn and confiscate the accused’s firearms. The accused is not given due process to defend himself or herself in court from the accusation for weeks or months after the confiscation. It is up to the accused to prove that he or she is not dangerous! (How do you prove a negative? How do you prove you are not dangerous?) Until such proof is provided to the Court's satisfaction, the guns are not returned. This could drag on for months, years, or indefinitely!

So, claims of “common sense” duly noted, the reality is that Democrats plan to not only limit Virginians’ ability to purchase guns, but also to confiscate them without anything resembling due process.

Lost in the volcanic eruption of faux outrage and condemnation aimed at the president by the Democrats and their wholly owned media subsidiary, this reference to CrowdStrike indicates that the Justice Department’s investigation of the counterintelligence operation against candidate and president-elect Trump may be hot on the trail of exposing what could well be a seminal lie that the Democratic National Committee’s computer server was hacked by Russian operatives. To understand why, consider the following:

On June 12, 2016, WikiLeaks announced that it would soon release stolen computer files that pertained to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

Two days later, CrowdStrike, which was working for the DNC, announced that it had detected Russian malware on the DNC’s computer server. The next day, a self-described Romanian hacker, Guccifer 2.0, claimed he was a WikiLeaks source and had hacked the DNC’s server. He then posted online DNC computer files that contained metadata that indicated Russian involvement in the hack.

On July 22, 2016, just days before the Democratic National Convention, WikiLeaks published approximately 20,000 DNC emails.

Now the Debates!

I am told that rumors have been running riot in Washington ever since I took up the subject of the almost two-dozen candidates seeking the Democratic nomination. One of the hottest rumors is that good ole Joe has more tricks up his sleeve. Not only will he pull his pants down, but he will be wearing shorts with a catchy slogan. The catchiest yet is “Vote for Biden, He’s an Item.” Well, I thought it was a little flat too when I first heard it, but I am told it grows on you. Wait until Thursday night.

There have been some complaints from progressive quarters that if Joe pulls his pants off he will not be acting presidential. I think Congress girl Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez objected. I understand she is the smartest of the freshman Democrats in Congress, and she even carries a copy of her college transcript to prove it along with her driver’s license in the event that bartenders on Capitol Hill doubt her age.

Now Joe’s critics have a point about his pants. No one in the history of this country has ever tried to effect a “breakout moment” during a presidential campaign by removing his pants or even his shirt, though I thought Senator John Kerry was headed in that direction when he ran for president in 2004. Certainly his wind surfing was an effort in that direction and was it also skateboarding? Kerry was a lot of laughs. I miss him.

Now the mainstream media have been very dutiful about keeping us au courant about the Democrats’ efforts to retire President Trump in 2020. I especially liked the Washington Post over the weekend reporting that the “Candidates have been digesting briefing books and consuming hours of old debate footage.” If any of the candidates comes to the debates this week with a mouthful of briefing books and old debate footage I say he or she has gone too far. We must keep things in perspective. “Briefing books” are to be read. “Old debate footage” is to be analyzed. This passage was ridiculous. I think sometimes the members of the media get too close to their subjects.
