At UN “Climate” Summit, Pelosi and Democrats Ignore Reality

During a congressional trip to the United Nations 25th Conference of the Parties (COP25) on “climate change,” Democrats led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.; shown) ignored reality and claimed the United States was still committed to the “climate” fight and the UN “Paris Agreement.” “We came here to say we’re still in,” Pelosi said at the UN summit in Madrid. However, in the real world, President Donald Trump, who ridiculed the man-made warming alarmism as a “hoax” to benefit Communist China, is still the president. And under his administration, the U.S. government is still in the process of leaving the controversial and illegitimate UN deal.

Beyond ignoring the fact that a skeptic of the hypothesis is still sitting in the White House, Pelosi also misled UN COP 25 attendees about Congress, too. “Our delegation is here to send a message that Congress’s commitment to take action on the climate crisis is iron-clad,” Pelosi claimed. In reality, just a tiny handful of fringe Republicans — dubbed Republicans in Name Only by political analysts — publicly support “action” on “climate.” In fact, it was major news a few weeks ago when one freshman Republican senator joined with a Democrat to create a “Climate Solutions Caucus.” Despite the effort to mislead the world, though, delegates at the UN summit are well aware of the lack of American support.

During a 30-minute press conference in Madrid, Democrats chose not to focus on Trump or the fact that Americans elected a president who boldly rejected and ridiculed the hypothesis underpinning their agenda. Instead, the coalition of radical U.S. lawmakers spent much of their time emphasizing the fact that some of America's most leftist city and state governments were handicapping their own economies and raising the cost of living for the people they represent under the guise of fighting “climate change.” Overall, they sounded detached from reality, observers said. At the end of the press conference, some of the Democrats even shouted: “We’re still in!”

Critics ridiculed the House Speaker and her fellow Democrats in the delegation for sounding so out of touch with the real world. “Pelosi and the rest need a lesson in the U.S. Constitution and how foreign policy is lawfully made in this country,” said Craig Rucker, president of the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT), a free-market environmentalist group. After that, the CFACT chief volunteered to teach the Democrats a basic civics lesson.

Trump Announces U.S. Withdrawal From UN Arms Trade Treaty

During his speech April 26 to the NRA-ILA Leadership Forum at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, President Donald Trump revealed that he will end the participation of the United States in the United Nations’ Arms Trade Treaty (ATT).

“Today, I’m proud to announce another historic step to protect your Second Amendment rights,” the president told those gathered to discuss the future of the right to keep and bear arms.

Then, after informing the audience that he had not informed the NRA-ILA leadership in advance that he intended to make this praiseworthy parting of ways with the UN, President Trump spelled out his motivation for abandoning the ATT:

So, in the last administration, President Obama signed the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty.  And in his waning days in office, he sent the treaty to the Senate to begin the ratification process.

This treaty threatened your subjugate — and you know exactly what’s going on here — your rights and your constitutional and international rules and restrictions and regulations.

Under my administration, we will never surrender American sovereignty to anyone. We will never allow foreign bureaucrats to trample on your Second Amendment freedom.  And that is why my administration will never ratify the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty.  I hope you’re happy.

Assange Held at “Britain’s Guantanamo Bay” as UN Urges Fair Trial

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange faces a likely extended extradition battle after this week’s dramatic end to his seven-year asylum stay holed up in Ecuador’s London embassy.

He’s now in a British jail, and though UK authorities have yet to confirm the precise place of his detention, multiple reports suggest that he’s being held in what’s dubbed “Britain’s Guantanamo Bay” — or Belmarsh Prison, given its reputation as a holding facility for terrorists and high-profile criminals.

Crucially, the United Nations human rights office has now weighed in, on Friday urging that the UK government holds a fair trial as a US extradition request hangs over the proceedings.

U.N. human rights spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani told a Geneva news briefing: “We expect all the relevant authorities to ensure Mr. Assange’s right to a fair trial is upheld by authorities, including in any extradition proceedings that may take place,” according to Reuters.

Nikki Haley: The De Facto Agent of Influence

The most recent claim that Russian President Vladimir Putin is “running” Donald Trump as if the U.S. president is a Russian intelligence asset comes from former Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper. “[Putin] knows how to handle an asset, and that’s what he’s doing with the president,” Clapper told CNN last Monday. 

Clapper, who served as DNI under President Barack Obama, and who has repeatedly disparaged Trump both before and since the 2016 election, called the Russian president a “great case officer,” which might be the only nice thing said about Putin by a former senior U.S. official in quite some time. 

Clapper was asked by CNN’s Jim Sciutto, “You’re saying that Russia is handling President Trump as an asset?” He responded “That seems to be... that’s the appearance to me.” Later in the conversation, Clapper backtracked slightly, clarifying his remarks by adding “I’m saying this figuratively.” 

It was not the first time that a former senior intelligence official rendered a judgment that Trump is an intelligence asset being exploited by the Russians. Back during the campaign, former Acting Director of the CIA Michael Morell wrote an op-ed for the New York Times entitled “I Ran the CIA: Now I’m Endorsing Hillary Clinton.”

Morell reasoned that Putin, a wily ex-career intelligence officer, is “trained to identify vulnerabilities in an individual and to exploit them… In the intelligence business, we would say that Mr. Putin had recruited Mr. Trump as an unwitting agent of the Russian Federation.” Morell went on to explain that he based his critique on his assessment that “Mr. Trump has…taken policy positions consistent with Russian, not American, interests…”

Former U.N. Amb. Power Unmasked ‘Hundreds’ In Final Year Of Obama Admin

Former United Nations Ambassador Samantha Power is believed to have made "hundreds" of unmasking requests to identify individuals named in classified intelligence community reports related to Trump and his presidential transition team, according to multiple sources who said the behavior is unprecedented for an official in her position.

Power was first identified by the Washington Free Beacon last month as a central figure in a congressional investigation into efforts by senior Obama administration officials to obtain classified intelligence information in what many allege was an effort to undermine President Donald Trump and his incoming national security team.

Power is believed to be the anonymous official responsible for "hundreds of unmasking requests during the final year of the Obama administration," according to current and former U.S. officials who spoke to the Free Beacon about the ongoing investigation.

Efforts by the former Obama administration to obtain the names of Trump allies included in raw intelligence reports have fueled speculation that subsequent leaks to the press were orchestrated by the former administration and its allies in a bid to damage the current White House and smear Trump's most senior confidantes.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R., Calif.), chair of the House Intelligence Committee, which is handling the probe, petitioned Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats last week to request his help in addressing the unmasking issue.

After months of keeping the world in suspense about his intentions, President Donald Trump formally announced that the United States would be withdrawing from the United Nations “Paris Agreement” on alleged man-made global warming. Blasting the non-binding UN scheme as a counterproductive effort to disadvantage America and redistribute U.S. wealth rather than fix the “climate,” Trump portrayed the decision as one that puts “America First.” He also chastised foreign powers and their lobbyists for demanding that the United States continue to handicap its economy under the guise of doing virtually nothing for the climate. The withdrawal, Trump said, represents the “re-assertion of America's sovereignty” and a fulfillment of his efforts to re-invigorate the American economy. It was also the fulfillment of Trump's oft-repeated pledge to “cancel” the UN scheme.

However, frustrating some of his supporters and climate realists, Trump also indicated that he was open to either re-negotiating the Paris Agreement or creating a similar international “climate” regime that would be more “fair” to the United States. In fact, the president even offered to work with Democrat Party leaders to create a new global-warming scheme — provided it was more fair and did not impose undue burdens on the United States that did not apply equally to other nations, including the world's top polluters. Some Trump supporters, though, suggested that the president understands such a “far better” so-called “climate” regime will never materialize. Plus, even if it did, it would stand virtually no chance of being ratified by the Senate, as required by the Constitution — especially since most Americans reject the warming theory to begin with. If no new deal emerges, “that's fine,” Trump said.
   
Trump's speech, though, was widely celebrated as wonderful by his supporters and especially his core base. Despite softening his rhetoric on the man-made global-warming theory, which he repeatedly referred to as a “hoax” over a period of years, Trump's historic announcement pleased a broad array of his supporters on main street. From supporting workers and domestic energy production to defending the U.S. Constitution and American sovereignty, Trump's speech hit multiple points that American patriots have been longing to hear from a U.S. president for decades. Indeed, the decision itself was a stunning blow to globalist-swamp schemers, “climate” AstroTurf activists, mega-bankers, UN bureaucrats, Third World dictators, Big Oil, crony capitalists, the pope and the full spectrum of forces lobbying Trump to stay in the imploding UN scheme.

The UN “Paris Agreement,” as the pseudo-treaty is called, was negotiated in Paris, France, in December of 2015 by Obama, the UN, and the UN's largely autocratic and corrupt member regimes. Under the scheme, Obama purported to commit the United States to draconian economic and energy restrictions, all while pledging to redistribute hundreds of billions of taxpayer money from the middle class in West to Third World regimes and the UN. Because Obama knew it would stand no chance of being ratified by the U.S. Senate as required by the U.S. Constitution, the administration called it an “executive agreement” and claimed ratification was not needed. But as this magazine warned at the time, such a plot meant the foundation of the pseudo-treaty was built on quicksand, all but ensuring its eventual collapse. Indeed, without U.S. participation and tax money, the scheme is essentially dead.

Apologists for tyranny and the widespread death it produces have long claimed that, if central planners only had more and better data with which to make decisions about your life, central planning might be less disastrous. Under the guidance of a senior Chinese Communist operative at the UN, humanity may be about to find out if that dubious claim is true — at least if there is not concerted action to stop the establishment's UN Agenda 2030 to “transform” the world.  

In its ongoing crusade to shackle the planet under the draconian UN vision, essentially an undisguised recipe for global socialism/fascism under the guise of “sustainable development,” the UN is demanding an “unprecedented” amount of data from every corner of the planet. Everything from the prevalence of UN indoctrination in schools to the subservience of national governments to the UN's immigration demands will be tracked, measured, and analyzed as part of the “indicators” used to more effectively impose the UN's sought-after transformation.

However, despite calling the data-gathering and -mining component the “final piece of the architecture for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” the Communist Chinese agent leading the relevant UN bureaucracy that oversees it all said much work still remained. “Completing the indicator framework is of course not the end of the story — on the contrary, it is the beginning,” said UN Under-Secretary-General for the Department of Economic and Social Affairs Wu Hongbo (shown), a key player in the emerging global system being imposed under UN Agenda 2030.    

“The SDG [Sustainable Development Goals] indicators will require an unprecedented amount of data to be produced and analyzed,” continued Wu, a high-level Communist Chinese operative who served as the brutal regime's “assistant foreign minister” prior to taking over the powerful post at the UN from another anti-American Chinese Communist named Sha Zakung. “And it is evident that this will pose a significant challenge for national statistical systems, in developing as well as developed countries.” Not to worry, though, the UN and its wealthier member governments have already promised to help those regimes ruling “developing” country to build up the necessary data-gathering tools.

The Handshake That Never Happened

The world waited with bated breath as the day approached: would President Obama’s speech to the UN General Assembly reflect positively on Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s “charm offensive” (as the Israelis derisively dub it)? Would the two meet up at a luncheon arranged by Ban Ki-Moon and – gasp! – actually shake hands?

We now know the answers to these two questions: no, and certainly not.

It’s funny how subjective impressions can be. People often hear their hopes rather than what is actually being said: here’s Phil Weiss, over at the militantly anti-Zionist MondoWeiss web site, who sees in Obama’s speech evidence of a "bold opening to Iran," all but proclaiming the beginning of a new era in US-Iranian relations. On the other hand, here’s Max Fisher over at the Washington Post with a much more sober – and, I would say, more accurate – assessment.

Rouhani never showed up at the luncheon, and therefore the handshake that was supposed to have shaken the world never happened. Maybe he’d had a big breakfast and just wasn’t that hungry – or maybe he lost his appetite after listening to Obama’s speech. I’m betting on the latter.

I’ll pass over the obvious lies – obvious, at least, to those who follow these issues closely – such as the one about how "all our troops have left Iraq” (not so), and this real knee-slapper:

"We have limited the use of drones so they target only those who pose a continuing imminent threat to the United States where capture is not feasible and there’s a near certainty of no civilian casualties."
