Sandy Hook Lawsuit Against Remington Sent Back to State Court
When Connecticut’s Supreme Court overturned a lower court’s ruling last March that Remington Arms was protected from a lawsuit by families of victims of the Sandy Hook shooting, Remington appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Without comment, the Supreme Court on Tuesday turned back the appeal that allows the lawsuit against Remington to proceed.
The essence of the case against Remington is this: The company is accused of violating Connecticut’s fair trade laws by deceptively marketing its Bushmaster semi-automatic rifle. The company’s ads touted the rifle’s looks and expressed its benefits in ways that the families considered deceptive. That’s important because one of the exceptions to the federal law protecting arms manufacturers from such lawsuits — the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, or PLCAA — is that victims are allowed to sue if a manufacturer “knowingly violated a state or federal statute applicable to the sale or marketing” of a firearm.
Attorneys for the plaintiffs claimed that Remington’s Bushmaster semi-automatic rifle — the one Adam Lanza stole from his mother Nancy (before murdering her) and used to murder 20 children and six teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012 — was “designed as a military weapon” and “engineered to deliver maximum carnage” with great efficiency.
They argued that Remington touted the rifle’s military appearance as a marketing strategy, including an ad showing a large picture of the rifle along with the text: “Forces of opposition, Bow down. The only rifle you need to master the infinite number of extreme scenarios you’ll face in the worlds of law enforcement and personal defense.” The ad called the rifle the “ultimate military combat weapons system,” adding that “It’s tested and proven reliable in the most brutal conditions on earth, truly ambidextrous and the uncompromising choice when you demand a rifle as mission-adaptable as you are.”
Another ad touted the rifle’s masculinity: “Consider your man card reissued.”
The attorneys chimed that somehow these influenced Adam Lanza to use the Bushmaster in his killing spree — that he was “encouraged” by those ads to use it to commit his atrocity at Sandy Hook. In its ruling last March that overturned the lower court, the state’s Supreme Court obliquely agreed: “If the defendants’ marketing materials did in fact inspire or intensify the massacre, then there are no more direct victims than these plaintiffs.”
Chief Justice Richard Robinson spoke for the Connecticut court’s majority:
If the defendants did indeed seek to expand the market for their assault [sic] weapons through advertising campaigns that encouraged consumers to use the weapons not for legal purposes such as self-defense, hunting, collecting, or target practice, but to launch offensive assaults against their perceived enemies, then we are aware of nothing in the text or legislative history of PLCAA to indicate that Congress intended to shield the defendants from liability for the tragedy that resulted.

The Torture of Julian Assange
In a few days July 4th will be upon us. We will hear endless nonsense from insouciant speakers and editorialists about what a great democracy we are, having won our freedom from being a British colony.
One thing the United States most certainly is not is a democracy. A democracy requires an informed electorate, and the United States most certainly does not have an informed electorate. The American media, indeed, the entirety of the Western print and TV media, functions as a Propaganda Ministry for Washington and the ruling oligarchies. The explanations are controlled to serve the agendas of the ruling elites. The persecution and torture of Julian Assange proves conclusively that the First Amendment is a dead-letter Amendment.
The vaunted rule of law in the Great American Democracy is a dead-letter rule of law. Since the Clinton regime America has had four criminal regimes in a row, the presidents and high officials of which are more guilty of war crimes than the German National Socialists who were tried at Nuremberg on ex post facto grounds in order to distract from the war crimes of the victorious allies.
Without an honest Fourth Estate it is impossible to prevent a democracy from becoming a tyranny. In America tyranny is far advanced. Suppose that Americans somehow became aware of the truth about Julian Assange’s total innocence that has been disclosed by Nils Melzer, UN Special Rapporteur on Torture. What could they do about it short of violent revolution and complete elimination of the ruling elites?

Chelsea Manning’s Resistance Is Aimed At Abolishing The Grand Jury Once And For All
When Judge Anthony Trenga ordered Chelsea Manning back to jail for refusing to testify before the grand jury investigating WikiLeaks, he urged her to “reflect on the principles she says she’s embracing” as well as “whether those views are worth the price she’s paying for them.”
Trenga maintained there was “no dishonor” in cooperating with a grand jury because the United States Constitution codified the grand jury.
Manning took Trenga’s admonishment seriously and responded with a letter containing research she did with the help of her attorneys. It presented her position on the grand jury in a very clear and compelling manner.
In doing so, Manning further demonstrated her resistance is about much more than defying an investigation into a dissident media organization. It is about publicly discrediting the institution and all its corruption once and for all.
Manning, who is in jail at the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center in Alexandria, Virginia, was held in civil contempt of court on May 16.

Snopes Defends Teaching Child Rape to Children
The fake “fact checking” website Snopes has once again attempted to deceive readers, this time lying about a growing scandal in California involving the teaching of pedophilia and pederasty as a “sexual orientation.” But considering the fact that Snopes was founded by sex perverts and con artists, it's not surprising to see the website try to cover up perversion. Indeed, the Snopes writer even defended teaching children about the rape of children and suggests that pedophilia is only wrong by “modern” standards.
In its April 29 “fact check,” referring to an article published by The Newman Report on April 17 headlined “Pedophilia Being Taught As 'Sexual Orientation' in California Schools,” Snopes twisted itself into pretzels lying and then defending the outrageous lesson.
The writer listed the claim in question as: “In 2018 or 2019, Brea Olinda Unified School District in California 'taught pedophilia as a sexual orientation.'" Dan MacGuill, who has developed a reputation for publishing lies and propaganda, labeled the claim “false.”
But ironically, he then proceeded to prove and further document the accuracy of the claim. Indeed, MacGuill even included a video of Brea Olinda Assistant Superintendent Kerrie Torres explaining that it is “really important” to teach children about man-boy sex “because we are talking about historical perspectives of how gender relations and different types of sexual orientations have existed in history.”

Burning Books: Amazon Moves to Make Anti-Jihad Author a “Non-person”
Tommy Robinson is, one could say speaking loosely, being turned into a non-person. Oh, he still lives and breathes and walks and talks; though when he talks now, fewer hear him. He surely can still mount a soapbox and opine on a street corner — until the hate-speech cops haul him away. Mind you, it wouldn’t be the first time he was hauled away.
Who is Tommy Robinson? He’s a British anti-Islamization crusader and founder of the anti-immigration English Defense League who the enemedia love dubbing “far right.” He also recently coauthored an Islam-critical book entitled Mohammed’s Koran, which was selling so well on Amazon that the company requested it be put in special sales programs. Then they did give it special status.
Amazon banned it completely.
In fact, even second-hand versions now cannot be sold via its service.
And given that Barnes and Noble already wasn’t carrying the work and eBay has stopped selling it as well — and that the three companies together have almost a monopoly on book sales — it essentially means Mohammed’s Koran has been “disappeared.”

Chief Justice Roberts: The Great Liberal Hope?
Like Lucy pulling the football away just as Charlie Brown tried to kick it, supposedly conservative judges have been frustrating conservatives and pleasing liberals for decades.
With President Donald Trump poised to nominate a third judge to the U.S. Supreme Court should another vacancy occur, liberals who view the federal judiciary as just another avenue to advance their progressive agenda are now hoping that Chief Justice John Roberts (shown) will be the latest in a long string of “conservative” judges who have disappointed the Right and thrilled the Left.
Every presidential election we hear that we need to vote for the Republican candidate for president because of judicial nominations. Yet, as far back as President Dwight Eisenhower and his selection of Earl Warren as chief justice in the 1950s, Republican presidents have given us some awful justices (from the point of view of basing their opinions on original intent and the clear language of the Constitution). Other examples in addition to Warren abound --- Harry Blackmun, John Paul Stevens, David Souter, Anthony Kennedy, and Sandra Day O’Conner. It is true that there have been some others --- Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, Neal Gorsuch, and Samuel Alito come to mind --- that have mostly pleased conservatives who take the Constitution seriously. And of course, there are the appointments by Democrat presidents that can be expected to toe the liberal line, with almost compass-like reliability.

The Pope's Stubborn Silence On The Persecution Of Christians
Unfortunately, Pope Francis's stance on Islam seems to be coming from a fantasy world.
"Authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Koran are opposed to every form of violence", the Pope claimed, not quite accurately. It is as if all of the Pope's efforts have been directed to exonerating Islam from any of its responsibilities. He seems to have been doing this even more than observant Muslims -- such as Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, American author and physician M. Zuhdi Jasser, former Kuwaiti Information Minister Sami Abdullatif Al-Nesf, French-Algerian author Razika Adnani, Paris-based Tunisian philosopher Youssef Seddik, Jordanian journalist Yosef Alawnah, and Moroccan author Rachid Aylal, among many others -- have been doing.
"Pope Francis could in no way be ignorant of the heavy problems caused by the expansion... at the very heart of the Christian domain... Let us note this again... the last religion that arrived in Europe has an intrinsic impediment to integrating into the European framework that is fundamentally Judeo-Christian..." – Boualem Sansal, Algerian author, in his best-selling book "2084."
Pope Francis now faces the potential risk of a Christian world physically swallowed by the Muslim crescent -- as on the Vatican logo chosen for the Pope's upcoming trip to Morocco. It is time the appeasement is replaced.

SEN. SASSE: ‘IF YOU CAN’T SAY IT’S WRONG TO LEAVE BABIES TO DIE AFTER BIRTH, GET THE HELL OUT OF PUBLIC OFFICE’
“Get the hell out of public office” if you can’t condemn post-birth abortion, Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) said Wednesday, responding to Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s (D) comment in which he seemed to imply that the decision to abort a child could be made after birth under his new abortion bill.
In a statement denouncing Gov. Northam’s comment provided to CNSNews.com, Sen. Sasse bemoaned how quickly Democrats’ stance on abortion has deteriorated. Anyone, from any party, who can’t defend life after birth, is unfit for public office and should “get the hell out,” Sasse said in his statement:
“This is morally repugnant. In just a few years pro-abortion zealots went from ‘safe, legal, and rare’ to ‘keep the newborns comfortable while the doctor debates infanticide.’ I don’t care what party you’re from — if you can’t say that it’s wrong to leave babies to die after birth, get the hell out of public office.” — Senator Ben Sasse

If Libs Will Lie About the Covington Catholic Kids, Who Won't They Lie About?
Ever since the 2016 presidential election broke the brain of every lib on earth, we've heard a lot about "foreign influence." The Russians, once dismissed as harmless has-beens by the Democrats -- "Governor Romney, the 1980s are calling to ask for their foreign policy back" -- are now the boogeymen underneath every bed and around every corner. Whenever the Dems embarrass themselves, you can bet that somebody somewhere is blaming it on "foreign influence."
And maybe they're right!

Twitter suspended an account on Monday afternoon that helped spread a controversial encounter between a Native American elder and a group of high school students wearing Make America Great Again hats.
The account claimed to belong to a California schoolteacher. Its profile photo was not of a schoolteacher, but of a blogger based in Brazil, CNN Business found. Twitter suspended the account soon after CNN Business asked about it.
